Cake ordering tips
- Order early for custom designs. Character and tiered cakes often need 1–3 weeks; sheet cakes from grocery bakeries can be ready in about a day.
- Smash cakes: ask your baker for a small matching cake for the birthday child. Tops bakeries have been reported to give a free 5-inch smash cake with proof of a first birthday; call your store to confirm.
- Allergies: ask whether the kitchen is shared. A gluten-free cake from a shared kitchen may not be safe for celiac guests.
- Party venue rules: check the venue’s cake and candle policy before you order (see below).
Can I bring my own cake to the venue?
Most party venues allow an outside birthday cake even when they ban other outside food. Venues that say a cake from home or a bakery is fine include Bounce Hopper, Ontario Play & Cafe, Funtastic Adventure Park, Great Lakes Gaming, RocVentures Climbing Gym, Aerial Arts of Rochester, Color Me Mine Rochester, Seneca Park Zoo, Kids Empire Irondequoit, Rochester Sports Garden, Tim Hortons Iceplex (formerly Bill Gray's Iceplex), The Warrior Factory, Roc Kid City, Rochester Regional Health Total Sports Experience, Cinemark Tinseltown Rochester, Domm's Bowling Center, Clubhouse Fun Center (Henrietta), Get Air Rochester, Clubhouse Fun Center (Greece), Nova Trampoline Park, Bricks ROC, Lemon Squeezy Art Studio, Rochester Ice Center, Color Me Mine Webster, Ladybugs Play, Stokoe Farms, West Main Lanes (Okay Beer Company), Brockport Bowl, Minnehan's Fun Center, Greater Canandaigua Civic Center.
